Woofling my humans,
so last time I left you with my walkies discoveries, which were:
1- The fun of being outside in nature
2- The existence of many versions of me.
In the days following that occurrence I fully embraced the experience. My hooman took me to many places, from what my hooman calls parks, (which as far as I can understand, most of them are human made pockets of nature within a human settlement; to the woods, (NOW THAT IS THE REAL MCDOG).
I remembered the first time I smelled the woods... I was so stricken with the enormity of its existence, but more than that, it was what I sensed... the whole area felt so alive to me and filled with a force so great that its impact made me feel both excited and scared.
In the woods I encounter many exciting smells, some of them I felt compelled to follow, and at time it paid off, whilst other times my curiosity landed me in a bit of trouble.
I love the woods and all its wonders, but when it comes to socializing… the park is the best ground for action.
According to my hooman, I needed to meet dogs, people and things of all kind… I didn’t quite understand the point of the exercise, but you better believe me when I woofle to you that I totally enjoyed it.
My hooman seemed to need socializing as well, she met lots of other humans, and while she was busy with them, I took advantage and sniffed those human’s dogs behinds. You can tell a lot about a
dog from their behind, but that is only one way, I found out that we could leave each other information before, during or after our whiskers to tail meetings.
My hooman calls this “P-Mail”.
I picked up my first P-Mail on the day my hooman took me out on the grass for the first time... remember? But at that time I didn’t know what it was all about.
It didn’t take me long to catch on though, it is pretty simple really, during my walkies I sniff around and let myself get bombarded by all information-scents other dogs leave behind, then I identify the most interesting ones… take it all in and respond in kind.
This is really useful to work out who’s who, their nature, what kind of kill they feed on, their health, age, etc… and after all this... at times, if we are lucky enough, we meet and take this further by butt sniffing, (which according to my hooman, it is a good old alternative to a human’s handshake), after which more times than not we go into full blown play mode.
You have no idea how much fun this all thing is, but after about an hour of this netwoofing… I am totally ready to happily trot my way back to our den, and I think my hooman feels the same, because for as much as I enjoy it, the best part of my walkies is feeling tired but satisfied in my hooman's company while she has a drinkies sitting on the sofa with me, and cuddled up next to her I let myself dream of all the fun I had with my K9 friends.
Till our next woofling,
Lots of licks,
Biscuit
